Sealed Action Figures – Valuable Star Wars Recommendations
Action figures have been produced for many years and cover a broad range of Superheroes and other notable characters. Many of these figures have been packaged in sealed plastic containers or boxes. A number of these sealed figures have been in strong demand due to their impact and relative scarcity. Some of the more valuable sealed figures have come from Star Wars characters.
The vinyl caped Jawa is one of my favorites and was introduced in 1978. It is regarded as the second rarest action figure from Star Wars. It was released as part of the original 12 Star Wars figures in 1978. When this figure was released, it sold for only $1.99 each.
The figure initially had a cheap looking plastic cape but that was quickly replaced with sewn fabric cape. The figure has been widely copied so be careful of fakes.
However a loose authenticated Jawa figure can go for around $1,000 each. And one which is sealed can go for as high as $2,000 each. However as we said earlier, be very careful about the potential for fakes as this item is very popular and in strong demand.
One of the most highly sought after figures comprise the Luke character with a telescoping light saber, Obi Wan, and Darth Vader. They were all introduced in 1978.
These figures were produced and packaged in a box which contained a certificate for a complete set of four Star Wars figures. This resulted in most boxes being torn open to get at the certificates. So these figures in their original boxes are extremely rare.
For example a Luke character with the telescoping light saber current sells for around $600 loose if it’s in good shape. And a sealed one will go for much more since there are only about 15 samples which are known to exist.
The Darth Vader and Obi Wan characters do not come up very often at all and are therefore very rare. If a sealed character does become available for sale, it can easily fetch over $7,000 each.
There is a fun character available you should consider. It comes from 1985 and portrays Luke as a Storm trooper. This character was hard to find as many retailers did not promote or carry it since there was no movie to back up the interest at that time.
The Vlix character is very rare since it did not come from the main Star Wars lineup but was instead a character from the relatively short lived Droid cartoon series. This figure is generally regarded as one of the rarest Star Wars figures.
The Droids line of toys was cancelled due to the poor performance of the cartoon series. However at that time Kenner (the producer of these toys) had already designed and molded the characters. So rather than let them go to waste, the molds were sold to a Brazilian company who produced and sold the figures only in Brazil.
This made the figure extremely rare, so much so that even a loose one easily goes for around $4,000 and a carded version for much more. If you can get your hands on one for a good price, it can be a great investment or a very valuable addition to your Star Wars action figure collection.
